One of my favourite things to do on the weekend or the occasional weekday is to go for a walk or hike and chill at some of the epic waterfalls here on the Sunshine Coast.
Buderim Falls (aka Serenity Falls), Buderim
Buderim Falls is my personal favourite, mainly because it is so easy to get to. It’s only a 10-minute drive from Mudjimba and a short walk. It’s super easy to get to with kids, and we even went there when my wife was a week from her due date.
Kondalilla Falls, Montville
Kondalilla Falls near Montville is one of the bigger waterfalls on the Sunshine Coast. To get the best view, it’s a 4.7km return walk to the bottom of the waterfall and back. If I get friends visiting from overseas, well, back in the days, I would try to take them on this walk. An epic walk up and downstairs, through the rainforest and a great waterfall view halfway through.
Gardners Fall, Maleny
This one is a pretty small waterfall but ranks pretty high, in my opinion, nonetheless. It’s pram-friendly, and the kids can go for a swim. It’s about 40 minutes from Mudjimba but worth the drive. Bring the kids, enjoy the drive swing by Maleny or Montville on the way up, and grab some coffee and snacks for a picnic. I’d stop at the Maleny Chocolate Co. and grab a coffee from Shotgun Espresso.
Those are easily my top waterfalls here on the Sunshine Coast, but there are heaps more: Wappa Falls in Yandina Bouloumba Falls at Conondale National Park Robinson Falls in Nambour Gheerulla Falls in Mapleton Baxter Falls in Flaxton
And then it depends on how far out you want to venture.
